I recently watched the movie, The Bucket List and found it to be very motivating. Although I'm not sick or dying, it is still important for me to have a list of goals that I would like to accomplish in this lifetime. It got me to thinking. Women need to do this for themselves to ensure that they make the time to do things that are important to them. We have a tendency, as women, to get caught up in being the caregiver, the nurturer, the person who knows all of the important stuff. Often, we forget to set goals based on what we want or need and not based on what will fit comfortably in our lives or not alienate those whom we love.
My challenge to you is to create a list of ten things you would like to do before you die. However miniscule or grandiose, just make the list. I'd like for all of us to share a few of our goals and see if there is anyone else who is in our group who might be able to help us realize one or more of our goals. The philosophy of 2 Higher Ground is for women to help other women succeed. Once we all know what others are hoping to do in their lives, maybe we can use our network to help each of us achieve some of our goals. Post your list here by June 30th and I'll check back to see if we are making any progress. I'll start by listing the top four goals on my list.
Rebecca's Bucket List (Partial)
1. Be published by one of the big publishing houses!
2. Successfully grow my own tomatoes!
3. Learn how to play piano!
4. Sing at the Grand Ole Opry!
What are some of your "bucket list" goals? Please share! We'll all exchange our advice and support after we see what kinds of goals are out there! This will be fun, ladies! Post yours today!
L. Diane Wolfe
Known as “Spunk On A Stick”, L. Diane Wolfe conducts seminars on promoting, leadership and goal setting. Ten years associating with a motivation training system and her experience as a foster parent gave her the in-depth knowledge of relationships, personality traits and success principals. The author offers her seminars through community colleges, organizations and clubs. Wolfe travels the East Coast extensively for media interviews and speaking engagements. She averages over one hundred appearances each year, maintains a dozen websites & blogs, manages an online writer’s group, and contribute articles for several other sites. She also does characterization sessions for schools and speaks to writer’s groups.
Wolfe’s upcoming title, “Overcoming Obstacles With SPUNK! The Keys to Leadership & Goal-Setting”, is an inspirational self-help book. The author has tied all of her goal-setting and leadership seminar’s information together into one complete, enthusiastic package! Seven other authors also contributed to this title, which features the five keys to success and summary points for each chapter.
The author’s other work is a young adult series entitled The Circle of Friends. It follows a group of sports-minded couples through relationships, college and into their early careers. Meant to inspire as well as entertain, these books have been described as “encouragement personified”. This series feature morally grounded, positive stories that appeal to both teens and concerned parents. The stories intertwine as the characters learn that with belief and encouragement, they can achieve anything. Many of today’s young adult novels are salacious & controversial and glorify frequent sexual activity, negative attitudes, and deviant behavior. Wolfe’s series focuses on wholesome and uplifting stories that are suitable for adults and teens alike.
She began writing as a teenager and was inspired to return by the adage that everyone needs “something to hope for and someone to love”. The author loves people, and her optimism is fueled by her spunky, sanguine personality. A Christian and a vegetarian, Wolfe enjoys sports and has a passion for roller coasters. Growing up in Salem, Oregon, the author now resides North Carolina with her husband and two cats. She is self-employed and a professional photographer.
“With a positive attitude, any goal can be achieved!”

This Month's Thoughts for:
Body-It's nice to be able to get outside and burn off some calories each day. Walking, hiking, running, biking...whatever works for you. Be sure to get out there and do something today!
Mind-We talk alot about feeding our minds, but what about easing your mind? The thought of making our end-of-life arrangements can be unsettling, but taking care of these details can be very liberating. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and get your papers in order. Make your wishes known and get something down in writing so that you not only ease your own mind about what must happen, but you ease the minds of those you love.
Spirit-It's easy to forget about the spiritual side of yourself when you are out enjoying the sun and fun of summer. Try something different with your daily prayer or meditation; take it outside. Feeling the sun on your face as you look to your Higher Power for guidance is a wonderful feeling. Let the wind blow through your hair as you send up a silent prayer. Sometimes even walking in a light summer rain can make your soul feel a little lighter.

Ladies Choice Spotlight Resource
Every month, 2 Higher Ground will spotlight a book, movie, or product that is on the market. We will rate each item using the scale below. Five clouds being a great pick, one cloud being a waste of time and money.
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert is a wonderful book for any woman who is trying to find herself. I enjoyed this one in written form and on audiobook and would recommend both. Author, Elizabeth Gilbert goes on a one-year journey to three places in the world, Italy, India and Indonesia. Having just come through a particularly nasty divorce, she treats herself to some much needed alone time to allow for personal and spiritual growth.
We all need a little time to be by ourselves and to focus on the areas in our lives that we might have been neglecting while we were expending our energies elsewhere. Gilbert does this in a big way, but it's so inspiring and heartwarming to follow. A must read for the woman in transition!
We give this book a five-cloud rating!
